All Because of a Panel…

I’m not the only one who falls in love with panels, has no idea what to do with them, buys abundant amounts of coordinating fabric, then sleeps on it for years before making something….AM I?!

That’s what happened here. Found a panel that screamed by daughter’s name — the colors, the designs, the sayings. I had to have it. Years later, I made this quilt using basic Sawtooth Stars and framed panel pieces. No pattern; just a vision.

I consulted with her like I would with all clients, except she got to be here in person to watch the entire process. We worked together to select the perfect thread options, draping tails from a variety of Glide thread; choosing her favorite color in the end. She then flipped through several floral and paisley pantographs before finding Soft and Sweet by Anne Bright. I must say, this girl has an eye for quilting!! :)

I whipped up the binding and attached before taking it off the longarm frame. I love making binding, attaching it and trimming up the quilt. These are services I offer to clients with my longarm quilting business as well. Making and attaching bindings are not everyone’s favorite parts of the process. I get it.

I was so thrilled with how this quilt turned out! My fingers couldn’t work fast enough to get that binding tacked down on the back. Hand stitching that part is my preferred method. It leaves a nice clean front, beautiful corners, and hidden stitches in the back.

This was such a rewarding project. To see her snuggling with it is a daily reminder of the love extended from clients who entrust me to bring their projects to fruition.
