Services
Longarm Quilting
Rates:
I charge 2 cents per square inch for all designs. That’s it — no additional charge for thread, bobbins, needles, etc. Just 2 cents per square inch.
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .02 = $96.
Minimum charge
My minimum quilting charge is $45.
Basting
Rates:
I charge 1 cent per square inch for basting. Basting is not required for longarm quilting services. This service is popular for hand quilters who prefer machine basting over pinning and the headaches that come from manually basting the “quilt sandwich” with pins.
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .01 = $48.
Minimum charge
My minimum basting charge is $45.
Binding
Rates:
I provide five levels of binding services. All rates are calculated by the linear inch of the quilt perimeter.
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. Perimeter is calculated by adding all four side: 60+80+60+80 = 280 linear inches.
Option #1 - Client provides binding
I attach client-provided binding to the front of the quilt. If requested, I will provide complimentary trimming services after the binding is attached. All trimmings are returned to the client. This is a good option for those who like to tack bindings down by hand. This service is 15 cents per linear inch.
Option #2 - I prepare the binding and return with quilt
Client provides enough fabric for me to cut 2.5” strips of fabric to make binding. Binding is neatly spooled and returned to the client with the quilted top. No trimming services are provided. This service is 10 cents per linear inch.
Option #3 - I prepare the binding and attach
This option combines the first two. Client provides enough fabric for me to cut 2.5” strips of fabric to make binding, then I attach it to the front of the quilt. If requested, I will provide complimentary trimming services after the binding is attached. All trimmings are returned to the client. This option is perfect for the client who prefers a hand tacked finish or prefers to finish it themselves. This service is 25 cents per linear inch.
Option #4 - Clients prepares binding; I attach and finish
This option is perfect for the client who enjoys making the binding, but prefers I attach it to the front and machine stitch it all the way around for a completely finished quilt to enjoy. I attach client-provided binding to the front of the quilt, then machine stitch all the way around with coordinating thread. This service is 25 cents per linear inch.
Option #5 - I prepare, attach, and finish the binding
This option is the client who prefers I make enough binding for the quilt. I then attach it to the front and machine stitch it to the back, all the way around, for a completely finished quilt to enjoy. This service is 30 cents per linear inch.
Batting
I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend, 100% cotton, and 100% poly.
I will order other fiber varieties of Quilters Dream batting like wool, Dream Orient or their Green option (made with recycled plastic) for you, if given enough lead time.
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price. Clients may also send their own high quality batting with the quilt top and backing.
Thread
I stock Glide (#40 & #50 weight) threads. I do not charge extra for thread or bobbins. It is all included in the square inch price.
My personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the lighter or dominant areas of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color.
For basting services, I will use a contrasting thread color, unless you request otherwise.
Shipping
Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in Wisconsin, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then place in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and clearly labeled.
Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number, but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it.
Other Costs
As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. I'm required by the State of Wisconsin to collect a 5.5% sales tax on the quilting service portion of an invoice. Batting, shipping, and any design/pantograph fees are not subject to sales tax if outside the state of Wisconsin. However, these are taxed for Wisconsinites.
Payment
After the work is complete, I will invoice you via your preferred payment method. I currently accept PayPal and Venmo for mailed quilts; cash or local personal check are additional options for pick-ups.
I really do appreciate timely payments as that enables me to mail your project(s) back to you right away.
